NATURE
OF WORK:
Performs a variety of complex technical functions in the pharmacy, which require application of an extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy practice.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to read and interpret pharmaceutical and medical terminology. Knowledge of generic and trade names including knowledge and training in sterile techniques, drug incompatibilities and stabilities, and dosage requirements based on weight, volume, concentration, and dilution. Ability to operate automated compounding machines and other equipment routinely used in a pharmacy setting. Knowledge and ability to prepare intravenous admixture solutions. Ability to use the computer system in order to obtain patient information, update medication lists, and check messages. Strong customer service skills in order to consistently send the message to patients that SCF is interested in attending to their needs. Ability to perform the job with minimum supervision. Knowledge of 1974 Privacy Act is required as use of patient record is an integral part of the position and privacy of individuals must be protected to the fullest. Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
SCF programs are established for the purpose of serving a primary population comprised of Alaska Natives who are affiliated with the Cook Inlet Region Inc. (CIRI), and Alaska Natives and American Indians within SCF’s geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of the CIRI members, and of the general culture and needs of Alaska Natives and American Indians. Such knowledge is critical in order to ensure the achievement of the mission and vision of SCF: working together with the Native community to provide the best services with Native staff who value the family and family wellness as the heart of the Native community. Pharmacy Technician I: High School Diploma or GED. Current Alaska Pharmacy Technician license required or be able to obtain a license within 30days of hire. Must be able to pass basic pharmacy related quiz including math and medical terminology. If provided on the job training must pass within 3 months of hire. One year experience performing administrative III support level:
Pharmacy Technician II: Maintain national certification as a Pharmacy Technician. Two years applicable experience in a pharmacy setting.
